Nellie Bly Research: The World
After her smashing success with the Asylum story, Bly went on doing stories for The World for the next two years before her fabled trip around the globe. Most of her reporting was exposing corruption, especially frauds aimed at women. She brought down New York lobbyists, rapists, thieves, swindlers, and traffickers in child slaves. This fierce reporting was always at war with the reporting a woman was expected to perform - flower shows and ballet dancing. It leads to quite a variety of reporting.
